Support for institutions and professionals

For professionals

This page is for therapists, counselors, psychologists, physicians, social workers, rehab programmes, university wellness teams, and other helping professionals who want a clear view of what SA is and how referral may help.

What SA is

Sexaholics Anonymous is a Twelve Step recovery fellowship for men and women who want to stop lusting and become sexually sober. It is peer-based and spiritually grounded, but it is not a clinic, not a therapy practice, and not a crisis service.

How professionals can use SA

SA can serve as a community-based recovery referral for individuals who identify with sex and lust addiction and are willing to engage in ongoing recovery support outside the consulting room or institution.

When referral may help

Persistent compulsive sexual behavior, escalating pornography use, repeated acting out, shame cycles, secrecy, and inability to stop despite consequences.

What referral is not

Referral to SA does not replace therapy, psychiatric care, trauma work, safeguarding, or crisis intervention when those are needed.

What good referral sounds like

“There is a recovery fellowship you may want to explore. You can review the literature, learn how it works, and decide whether it fits your recovery needs.”
